Welcome to

First Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church

Sunday Worship

Sunday morning services continue in our Church building at 11.30am each Sunday. This Sunday, 25th October, the Guest Speaker will be our Pastoral Associate, Rev. James Tosh. On Sunday week, 1st November, we will be celebrating communion and Rev McDowell will finish his series on Daniel. All are welcome. As these are being live streamed we would ask members to be seated by 11.20am, if possible.

Seat Reservation system

To help us effectively manage the numbers of those who would like to attend services we have decided to introduce an on-line seat reservation system using Ticketsource. This new system will start for our Harvest Service and continue weekly thereafter. We are encouraging as many people as possible to make their reservations online by clicking the following link:

For each Sunday service online reservations will open at 7.00pm on the previous Tuesday and close at 10.00pm on the Saturday night before the service. Further details about the booking system are available here.

People have already been asking, and the answer is that Blythswood are sending shoe boxes this year. The pandemic has devastated families at home and abroad, especially those who have been unwell, lost loved ones or experienced a loss of income. Blythswood Care has been able to continue its vital work during lockdown, feeding those in greatest need, in the communities in which they work. The worst affected are those for whom no work means no food. For them, the gift of a box full of essential, everyday items is more helpful than ever.

Items such as soap, shampoo, and toothpaste for a young family in Kosovo who survive by sifting through rubbish. Needles, threads, and a tape measure for a grandmother in Bulgaria who loves to sew. A packet of sweets for a young mother in Ukraine who struggles to motivate her twins born with a disability. Simple gifts like these are invaluable.

This year shoe boxes from here will be a blessing to families in need in Eastern Europe. Leaflets detailing what should be included will be available from Blythswood Care. We will not be able to distribute “shopping lists” or fill boxes in the way that we have done for several years now. If, however, you can fill a box or purchase items for inclusion please do so. Donations of knitted items (especially hat, scarf, gloves) are much appreciated and the essential items to buy are toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, underwear, new small toys (for boys and girls), sweets (best before date no earlier than April 2021 and no chocolate, any other food, loose sweets, lollies, or undated bags of sweets from multipacks). Items which are also appreciated are clothes (socks, tights, T-shirt, pyjamas, jumper, shirt) etc, shampoo, soap, shower gel, face cloth, moist wipes, deodorant, moisturising cream, comb, hairbrush, sanitary products, shaving foam, razors, new make-up, sewing equipment, household candles, screwdrivers, pliers, kitchen utensils, pens, pencils, sharpeners, rulers, rubbers, notepads, colouring books and colouring pencils. Please donate filled boxes, items for inclusion, or money directly to Blythswood. If you can please say that your boxes, items, or money are from First Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church. Thank you.

The following link leads to a short video explaining, in a Romanian context, why shoe boxes are needed, how they are distributed, and how they are used to share God’s love, . My involvement with shoe boxes stems from my experience of visiting Romania, with a School Aid Romania team, so this short video resonated with me. Acts 20 v 35 says that we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.

If you have any questions, please contact Jean Currie. Contacts for further information from Blythswood are Pauline Ferguson on 07899 701952, or Moira Hamilton at  or Ballyclare Hub on 028 93 3649859.

Unfortunately our church organisations were not able to resume as normal in September due to the Coronavirus restrictions. So, for the time being, there will be no Sunday School, Bible Class, Youth Fellowship, GB, BB, PW, Bowling Club or Mid Week Bible Study. These activities will resume as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Our Girls' Brigade Company have been advised by Girls' Brigade headquarters that, in light of the current circumstances due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the 2020/2021 session will not commence until January 2021 at the earliest. As this date is being kept under review, we will keep you informed of the latest advice from GB HQ and the date when the new session will commence.  In the meantime thank you for your patience and we pray that you and your families will continue to keep safe and stay well.
